Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, proud "AA" affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers, have announced that Adam Henrich has been loaned to the Norfolk Admirals and David Laliberte has been recalled by the Phantoms.

Henrich has signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the American Hockey League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The 23-year-old winger had spent the last three seasons in the Lightning system after being drafted by Tampa Bay in the second round (#60 overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

This year, Henrich has been one of the top offensive producers on the Nailers and in the ECHL. After being suspended for the first three games of the year, he has accounted for 10 goals and 10 assists in just 12 games. His goal total ranks him eighth in the ECHL and his six power-play goals are third in the league.

Henrich is expected to make his Norfolk debut tonight when the Admirals take on the Albany River Rats at the Times Union Center in Albany.

Laliberte has been recalled for a second time to Philadelphia and has already played in two games with the Phantoms this season. With the Nailers, he had been the leading rookie scorer with six goals and seven assists in 13 games. Selected by the Flyers in the fourth round (#124 overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Laliberte has no points and four penalty minutes in the AHL this season.

The Nailers track record of moving players to the next level continues this season after already placing more players in the NHL than any other ECHL affiliate. Former Nailers include current Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Dany Sabourin, who spent part of the 2004-05 season with the Nailers; current Florida Panthers goalie Tomas Vokoun, who began his professional career in Wheeling in 1995; and David Aebischer who spent last year as the goalie for the Montreal Canadiens played with the Nailers during the 97-98 season.

Daniel Carcillo made his NHL debut last season for the Phoenix Coyotes, one season after skating in Wheeling and Tim Koci made his debut last season with the Chicago Blackhawks after playing with the Nailers during parts of the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons.

Wheeling returns to the ice on Friday in Trenton at 7:30p.m. in a rematch of Sundays 3-2 shootout loss. On Saturday the Nailers will be on the road for a game in Johnstown scheduled for 7:05p.m. before returning home to face the Reading Royals on Sunday evening. The game starts at 6:05p.m. and fans are invited to bring their own skates and gloves and skate with the team after the game.
