Inferno Acquire Pair of Defensemen

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Nov. 28, 2007)-The Columbia Inferno have acquired defensemen Dan Glover and Donny Grover after a series of trades today, head coach and director of hockey operations Troy Mann announced today.

The first trade sent defenseman Bryan Rodney to the Fresno Falcons in exchange for forward Brett Hemingway.

Hemingway and center Marc Cavosie were then traded to the Reading Royals in exchange for Grover and forward Matt Stefanishion.

Stefanishion was then traded to the Falcons in exchange for Glover.

Glover, 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, is in his first professional season. The native of Delburne, Alberta has two assists and six penalty minutes in seven games with the Falcons this year. Prior to turning pro, Glover had 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and 79 penalty minutes in 82 career games with Cornell University from the 2003-04 season through 2006-07. He was originally selected 250th overall in the eighth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils.

"Dan is a big guy who moves well for a player his size," Mann said. "He will surely add depth to our blueline."

Grover, 6-foot-1, 210 pounds is in his second ECHL season and fourth as a professional overall. He has two penalty minutes in three games with the Royals this season, and 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists) and 90 penalty minutes in 57 career ECHL games. The native of Boston had played with the South Carolina Stingrays during the 2006-07 season. He also has two points (one goal, one assist) and 12 penalty minutes in 18 career American Hockey League games with the Lowell Lock Monsters and Hershey Bears from 2005-06 through 2006-07. Grover played in the former United Hockey League from 2004-05 through 2005-06, where he tallied 44 points (11 goals, 33 assists) and 80 penalty minutes in 72 games with the Quad City Mallards and Danbury Trashers.

"Donny can be a top-end defenseman in the ECHL," Mann said. "I recruited him diligently this summer, and I'm pleased to add him to the Inferno organization."

Rodney was in his second season with the Inferno. He had 11 points (two goals, nine assists) and 10 penalty minutes in 17 games this season.

Cavosie was in his first season in Columbia and his first in the ECHL after having spent four of the past five seasons in the AHL. He has six points (two goals, four assists) and 10 penalty minutes in 17 games this season.
