Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, MS - The South Carolina Stingrays defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves 5-3 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Wednesday evening.

Mississippi got on the board early when Mark Rooneem grabbed a loose puck and fed it over to Travis Lisabeth, who was open in the low slot and fired it past Stingrays goaltender Davis Parley at 1:32 of the first period. The Sea Wolves would add a power-play goal at the 8:26 mark when Radek Smolenak broke down the right wing, made a nifty move to beat Grant McNeill to the inside and then beat Parley with a wrist shot high to the blocker side. South Carolina pulled within one on the power-play when Andrew Gordon banged home the rebound of a shot from Stephen Werner at 17:17 of the first frame.

South Carolina evened the score at two with a goal from Pierre-Luc O'Brien, who pulled a loose puck to the middle and beat Ryan Munce to the glove side at the 1:23 mark of the second. With Mark Rooneem off for a high-sticking double minor, Mark Hurtubise stole a loose puck at center and beat Davis Parley for a shorthand goal to give the Sea Wolves a 3-2 lead at 14:19 of the second frame.

Steve Pinizzotto scored from Bryan Esner and Travis Morin to give South Carolina the lead at 8:30 of the third period. Pierre-Luc O'Brien's second of the game came on the power-play at 12:26 of the third period, giving South Carolina the lead. Stephen Werner would add an insurance goal at 15:12 of the third period on the man advantage.

Mississippi was 1-for-9 on the man advantage, and Ryan Munce made 50 saves, earning the loss.

The Sea Wolves next home game is December 28 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, stop by the Mississippi Coast Coliseum box office, the Sea Wolves office located on the first level of the Coliseum, or call 228.275.WOLF!
