
Checkers Receive Graham And Busto

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The New York Rangers of the National Hockey League have assigned forward Bruce Graham and defenseman Michael Busto to the Charlotte Checkers.
Busto, 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, hails from Burnaby, British Columbia and played the last six seasons in the Western Hockey League. While playing for the Kootenay Ice last year, Busto led his team in goals, assists and points for a defenseman, garnering 20 goals, 43 assists for 63 points in 70 games. Busto participated in both the Rangers and Hartford Wolf Pack (American Hockey League) training camps earlier this year. He has yet to play this year due to injury.
Graham, 6-foot-6, 235 pounds, was drafted by the Rangers in the second round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He scored 33 goals and 23 assists for 56 points and 83 penalty minutes with Charlotte last season while playing in seven games with the Wolf Pack scoring one assist. This season, Graham scored in the Checkers first six games registering four goals and two assists. He dressed in 10 games for the Wolf Pack this season generating one assist.
The Checkers began their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Nov. 30 against the Columbia Inferno. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
