ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves go for a series split as they take the field in the final game before the All-Star break against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) at Jerry Uht Park. Altoona has won two of the first three in the series and they have won the season series. The ‘Wolves are 5-6 against the Curve at "The Uht" and today is the final game between the two clubs in 2008...The ‘Wolves are 18 games under .500 and are in sixth place in the Southern Division, 21.5 games behind first place Akron...Righty Eddie Bonine returns to the SeaWolves to make a start tonight. Bonine was optioned down from Detroit to make a start to keep his turn in the rotation. In his most recent outing against the Cleveland Indians, Bonine went 3.2 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with a walk and a strikeout in a no-decision. Bonine made all but one start in 2007 with the SeaWolves and went 14-5 with a 3.90 ERA in 25 starts. He became Erie's first 14-game winner since Rick Kirsten in 2001...Lefty Kyle Bloom takes the mound for Altoona. Bloom is making his 20th appearance and 13th start. He picked up a win in his last outing at Trenton going 5.2 innings, allowing two runs, both unearned, on four hits with a walk and a season-high seven strikeouts. Bloom is making his fifth appearance against Erie...Erie 1B Ryan Roberson has been named the Bank of America Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending July 13. Roberson is the first Erie position player to accomplish the feat this season.
