Connecticut Defenders News Release
NORWICH, CT- You wouldn't know it by the final, but the long ball was ever-present at Dodd Stadium as the Defs rolled past the Fisher Cats by a final of 4-1.
New Hampshire found the scoreboard first in the second inning when David Smith singled home J.P. Arencibia from third base to make it 1-0, New Hampshire.
The Defenders answered the call in the bottom of the third. Ryan Rohlinger drew a one-out walk and Olmo Rosario let loose on a belt-high fastball as he drove it over the left-center field fence. At the end of the third, it was 2-1 Connecticut.
In the home half of the fourth Ben Copeland launched a solo shot over the right field fence to push the Defenders' lead to 3-1.
The bottom of the fifth featured a third home run for the hometown Defs. This time, it was Ryan Rohlinger who delivered a laser beam over the left field wall as Connecticut ballooned their advantage to 4-1.
Adam Cowart threw five effective innings, allowing just the one run on seven hits while walking two and striking out two. Cowart picked up his eighth win of the season, Robert Ray lost his fourth and Just Hedrick saved his fourth contest.
