Former Senator Lee to Start MLB All-Star Game

July 14, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - Former Harrisburg Senator LHP Cliff Lee was named the starting pitcher for the American League in Tuesday's All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

Lee, 29, is 12-2 with a 2.31 ERA in 18 starts this season for the Indians. He has revitalized his career after injuries led to a down year in 2007 in which he went 5-8 with a 6.29 ERA for the Tribe. Lee was demoted to Triple-A Buffalo for eight starts in late July and August last year.

Lee was dominant for Harrisburg in 2002, going 7-2 with a 3.23 ERA in 15 starts. He struck out 105 in just 86.1 innings. That same season, Lee was traded from the Expos with OF Grady Sizemore, 1B Lee Stevens and INF Brandon Phillips to the Indians for RHP Bartolo Colon. Lee made his major-league debut that September.

The Senators swept a four-game series against the Bowie Baysox this weekend at Commerce Bank Park. They have a two-day break for the Eastern League All-Star game and then hit the road for an eight-game swing through Altoona and Bowie. They return to Commerce Bank Park on Friday, July 25th to take on the Altoona Curve (Double-A Pittsburgh Pirates). To order tickets, call the Senators box office at 717-231-4444 or order online at senatorsbaseball.com.
