Bank of America Pitcher-Player of the Week Awards Week Ending July 6th

PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the Major League Baseball Advanced Media selections for the Bank of America Eastern League Pitcher and Player of the Week Awards for the week ending July 13th:

Erie SeaWolves first baseman Ryan Roberson has been named the Bank of America Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending July 13th. The 24-year old had an outstanding week for the SeaWolves, hitting .444 (12-for-27) with four doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, eight runs scored, four walks, one stolen base and a .815 slugging percentage over seven games. Roberson, a native of Silver Spring, Maryland, finished the week with four consecutive multiple hit games, including a two home run performance at Reading last Thursday night. The 6'5", 240 lb. slugger is currently tied for third in the league in homers (15), ranked seventh in slugging percentage (.507) and tied for eighth in RBI (53). Ryan, who has been named to the Southern Division roster for the 2008 Northeast Delta Dental All-Star Game in Manchester, New Hampshire on July 16th, was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 30th round of the 2005 draft after hitting .423 with 16 home runs during his senior season at George Washington University.

Craig Stammen, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Harrisburg Senators, is the Bank of America Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 13th. The 24-year old made a pair of starts for the Senators last week and had a record of 2-0 with 12 strikeouts and a 0.64 ERA in 14.0 innings. Stammen, a native of Versailles, Ohio, made his first start of the week last Monday night at Altoona and surrendered one run on two hits and two walks while striking out five batters over seven innings of work to earn his first career Double-A win. In his second appearance of the week the 6'3", 210 lb. hurler struck out seven batters without issuing a walk and gave up just three hits in seven shutout innings to earn a win against Bowie at Commerce Bank Park on Saturday night. Craig, who is 2-1 with a 1.67 ERA in five starts with the Senators since being promoted from Single-A Potomac in mid-June, was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 12th round of the 2005 draft out of the University of Dayton.
