Harrisburg Senators News Release
Harrisburg, PA - With the Senators trailing and down to their final out, Garrett Guzman drilled a two-out, three-run, walk-off double to finish a four-game sweep of the Bowie Baysox as Harrisburg rallied for a 3-2 victory Monday afternoon at Commerce Bank Park. With the win, the Senators take a two-game lead over the Baysox heading into the Eastern League All-Star break and are 13 games over .500, tying their highwater mark of the year.
It was a battle of two of the top pitching prospects in all of Minor League Baseball with Harrisburg RHP Jordan Zimmermann facing Bowie RHP Chris Tillman.
Zimmermann retired the first 12 Baysox to come to the plate, a string broken by a leadoff single off the bat of Nolan Reimold in the top of the 5th. Bowie put runners at the corners with nobody out in the 5th, but a popout and a double play short-circuited the rally.
The Senators had their chances in the middle stages of the game. In the 3rd, they had runners at the corners with nobody out and Tillman wiggled out of it with a pair of strikeouts and a flyout.
Still scoreless into the 7th inning, Lou Montanez clubbed a leadoff home run to put Bowie ahead, 1-0.
In the bottom of the 7th, the Senators threatened against RHP Randor Bierd with runners at the corners and one out. A double play ended the threat.
The Baysox tacked on another run in the 8th with a two-out rally. Jonathan Tucker slashed a double down the left-field line and scored when Mike Rodriguez blooped a single to left to make it a 2-0 game.
In the bottom of the 9th, Marvin Lowrance ripped a one-out double down the right-field line off Bowie closer RHP Julio Manon. After a strikeout, Matt Rogelstad and Seth Bynum worked walks to load the bases with two out. Guzman stepped up and lined a 1-1 pitch up the alley in left-center. All three runners raced around to score and give the Senators a 3-2 win.
The four-game sweep at home is the first for Harrisburg since August 1, 1999.
RHP Josh Perrault snagged the win to up his record to 4-2. Manon took the loss to fall to 1-6.
The Senators improved to 54-41, just one win shy of last season's total of 55 wins. The Baysox dipped to 53-44.
The Senators head into the Eastern League All-Star break on a four-game winning streak. The Senators travel to Altoona to take on the Curve in a four-game series at Blair County Ballpark. RHP Adrian Alaniz (0-2, 4.24 ERA) goes to the hill on Thursday at 7:05 PM against Altoona RHP Derek Hankins (1-6, 4.30 ERA).
