Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg Senators right hander Craig Stammen has been named the Bank of America Eastern League Pitcher of the Week. In his two starts with the Sens this week, he went 2-0 with a 0.64 era.

Stammen has been with the Senators since being promoted on 6/21 from Potomac. Overall this season with the Senators he's 2-1 with a 1.67 era in 32.1 innings pitched. Stammen appeared in 15 games with Potomac earlier this season with nine of them starts. He also pitched in one game, a two-inning relief appearance, for Columbus.

Stammen was a 12th round selection by the Nationals in the 2005 draft. He attended the University of Dayton and became their highest draft choice ever. He had only one season as a full-time starter, his junior year, firing nine complete games in fifteen starts. He set the University of Dayton record with 185 career strikeouts. He was the opening day starter for Potomac in 2007 and the 2006 opening day starter for Savannah.

Stammen's two starts this week were at Altoona and at home against Bowie. He helped the Senators finish their series win at Altoona by going seven strong innings last Monday, and then worked against Bowie on Saturday night going seven innings helping the Senators to their first 1-0 win in nearly two seasons.

Stammen becomes the second Senators pitcher to win the Pitcher of the Week award this season. Cory VanAllen won the award the week ending May 11th.
