Erie SeaWolves News Release
ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves look for a series victory as they take the field for the final time in 2008 against the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) at New Britain Stadium. The âWolves are 6-2-1 in series following the Eastern League all-star break. A win tonight for Erie would also notch a season series split with the Rock Cats. Erie has not lost a season series to the Rock Cats since 2005 when they took five of the six meetings. Since the all-star break, the âWolves are 22-12 and the team is in fourth place in the Southern Division, 16 games behind first Bowie. Erie is also 13-5 in the month of August. Erie is in a stretch of 12 straight games against Northern Division opponents. The SeaWolves and Rock Cats meet six times in a span of 10 days. The âWolves are 6-4 in their last 10 games...The Rock Cats had a six-game winning streak snapped with Erie's 5-2 extra innings win on Wednesday. They enter tonight's game in fifth place in the North, 23.5 games out of first place. The âCats are 7-3 in the last 10 games...SeaWolves outfielder Wilkin Ramirez was named today to the 2008 Eastern League Season-Ending All-Star Team...Lefty Danny Christensen takes the mound for the Howlers making his 25th start of the season and his first against the Rock Cats. Christensen took a no-decision in his last start against Connecticut. In the game, he went eight innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts. He left the game after eight innings leading 4-2. The bullpen squandered the two run lead in the top of the ninth but the âWolves won the game on a walk-off single by Will Rhymes in the bottom of the ninth. It was his third eight inning performance.
