Wachovia Helps Students Prepare for College

TRENTON - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees and Wachovia Bank have announced the grant recipients of the 2008 Educational Winners Circle. The recipients were announced in a pre-game ceremony on August 21 on the field at Waterfront Park before the 7:05 PM start.

Isles, Inc of Trenton is the main recipient and will receive a $10,000 grant to strengthen its career development program by providing more counseling, mentoring and support for underserved at-risk youth in Trenton. The other recipient is the Children's Home Society of Trenton, who will receive a secondary grant of $5,000.

This is the Trenton Thunder/ Wachovia Bank Educational Winners Circle program's 14th year and has raised over a half million dollars for children in the greater Trenton area.

Since 1994, the Grand Slam We Care Foundation / Trenton Thunder has donated more than $3 million worth of goods, services and monetary donations to community organizations in the region.
