ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

The SeaWolves have dropped two straight as they head into action tonight in the middle game of a three-game set against the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) at New Britain Stadium. The Rock Cats took the series opener last night with a come from behind 6-5 win. The Cats have won three of the first four meetings in the season series. Erie needs to take the final two games of the series to salvage a season series split. Erie has not lost a season series to the Rock Cats since 2005 when they took five of the six meetings. Last night's loss snapped a three-game winning streak in series openers for the SeaWolves. Since the all-star break, the 'Wolves are 21-12 and the team is in fourth place in the Southern Division, 16 games behind first Bowie. Erie is also 12-5 in the month of August. Erie is in a stretch of 12 straight games against Northern Division opponents. The SeaWolves and Rock Cats meet six times in a span of 10 days.The 'Wolves are 6-4 in their last 10 games...The Rock Cats have won six consecutive games which is the longest current winning streak in the EL. They are 7-3 in the last 10 games...Righty Guillermo Moscoso takes the mound for the 'Wolves making his fourth start and his second against the Rock Cats. He took a loss to New Britain in his last outing on August 14 at Jerry Uht Park. In the game, Moscoso went just four innings, allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts. He yielded three home runs in the game. Moscoso has struck out 25 batters while only walking three in 16 innings since joining the 'Wolves...Lefty Ryan Mullins beat the 'Wolves on 8/14 going six innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits.

- OF Casper Wells was hit by a pitch on the hand in the series opener on Tuesday. Wells had an xray on Wednesday morning and the results were negative. He is listed as day-to-day.
