ECHL Scoring Champions Donati Twins Reunited in Brampton

BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast announced today the signing of 28-year-old center and Oakville, Ontario native Justin Donati from Vita Hasten of the Allsvenskan.
Justin is the identical twin brother of current Beast winger Tyler Donati, who was leading the Beast with 9 points in 9 games at the time of his injury in November. The two are reunited for the third time in their professional hockey careers.
In 2009-10, playing on a line with brother Tyler for the Elmira Jackals, Justin scored 42 goals and 62 assists for 104 points in 65 games, while his brother would go on to win the league scoring title with 114 points. Justin's efforts were recognized when he was awarded the John A. Daley Trophy as the ECHL's rookie of the year that season. He would go on to win the ECHL scoring title the following year, again with Elmira, totalling an impressive 198 points in 128 games over two seasons.
"Identical twins are very rare in hockey. Not unlike the Sedins in Vancouver, Justin and Tyler Donati have had great success at many levels and we're both top OHL scorers," said President and General Manager Cary Kaplan. "The Beast are thrilled to have Justin and Tyler united in Brampton and playing at home in front of friends and family for the first time since Junior."
The brothers recorded their best season together when they were in the ECHL in 2011. They were first and second in the league in scoring, with 228 points between them. Previous to the Beast, both Justin and Tyler played for HC Innsbruck in Austria's EBEL. The 5' 10", 180-pound forward, scored 52 points in 54 games (23 goals, 29 assists) alongside Tyler. Justin leaves Sweden where played 17 games with the Vita Hasten HC this season to make his debut as Beast tonight against the Quad City Mallards. Tyler will be returning and joining his brother on the ice.xs
The Donati's Points for Cancer fund will be back in full effect, with both brothers contributing points. Tyler and Justin Donati started their "Points for Cancer" fund during their OHL careers after losing their mother to Ovarian Cancer. The Beast re-launched the program this past October following Tyler's signing. For each point made by the Donatis this season it will be matched by program sponsors and respective fans. At the initial re-launch event, the fund raised over $1000 and was announced that the official beneficiary would be Ovarian Cancer of Canada.
Prior to the road trip to Quad City, the Beast released Andy Bathgate, Tanner Burton and Zach Sternberg. Phil Oreskovic, Josh McQuade, Antoine Corbin, Elgin Reid and Jason Dale will not be in this weekend's contests due to injury.
Catch the Donati twins in action at home, when the Beast play the Toledo Walleye next week. The Beast will be wearing specialty ugly sweater jerseys that will be live auctioned following the game on Tuesday, December 30 at 7:00 pm. On Wednesday, December 31, experience a Frozen themed game with performances from the ice princesses and a special tea party for kids prior to puck drop.
