Caria scores late to secure outdoor game victory for K-Wings

TOLEDO- Matt Caria (5th) put the Kalamazoo Wings ahead for good scoring with less than four minutes remaining in regulation to secure a 2-1 victory over the Toledo Walleye during the ECHL's first-ever Outdoor Game Saturday night at Fifth-Third Field.

Making ECHL history late in the first period, Ludwig Blomstrand notched the league's first outdoor game goal. After a face-off win by Curtis Valk, who extended his point streak to six games with an assist, Blomstrand was able to find space and record his seventh goal of the season with a wrister from between the circles.

Evening things up early in the second period, Tyler Barnes (13th) extended his point streak to six games 1:06 into the period with a slap shot atop of the circles.

Regaining the lead late in third period, Nathan Longpre found Caria in the slot for the game-winner.

Goaltender Joel Martin made K-Wings history Saturday night by establish the team's ECHL record for victories (59th) during a 22-save performance.

The K-Wings will return home on Wednesday, December 31st to the host the Cincinnati Cyclones at 8 p.m. during the 13th Annual New Year's Eve Bash. The K-Wings will get in a festive mood by wearing special Tuxedo jerseys. Following the game the K-Wings will host a postgame bash featuring a live DJ in Wings Stadium during the FREE public skate. Fans will be able to celebrate the New Year with the K-Wings players. There will be plenty of fun activities in the concourse and even Keg Curling in The Annex. One lucky fan will start 2015 with pizza for a year courtesy of Hungry Howie's. Admittance to the bash is included with your K-Wings game ticket for December 31st. Due to limited skate rentals, the K-Wings encourage fans to bring their own skates.

Tickets for all K-Wings home games are currently on sale at Wings Stadium Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, including www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.

Fans that plan on attending multiple games can avoid service fees plus enjoy a discount from the single-game price by purchasing a 12, 24 or 36-game flexi-plan.
