Indy Fuel News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - In the fifth of nine head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel were defeated in overtime by the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum by a final score of 2-1. With the overtime loss, the Fuel improved to 6-16-3-3 overall this season and with 18 points, remain alone in seventh place in the ECHL's North Division standings.

After a scoreless first period, Indy captain Mike Duco delivered the Fuel a 1-0 lead at 8:21 of the middle frame when the Toronto native redirected a power-play feed from Robert Czarnik and Dean Chelios past Cyclones backstop Sam Brittain for Duco's seventh marker of the season.

Cincinnati hung tough down the stretch though, and finally broke through to tie the game at one on Zach Budish's fifth of the season, an unassisted power-play score at 17:52 of the third that ultimately forced overtime. In the extra session, Cyclones captain David McDonald provided the heroics by virtue of his third marker of the year, a left point blast that fooled a screened Mac Carruth in the Indy goal crease and delivered the 'Clones a 2-1 overtime win.

Carruth was splendid in net for the Fuel on Saturday as the Jackson, Wyoming native stopped 22 of the 24 shots he faced while Brittain impressed in his own right, turning in a 32 save performance to earn the victory.
