Adam Rosales picks up three RBI in Fifth Third Field Debut, helps Dragons snap three game skid

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Dragons (16-23, 46-63) opened up a four game home stand Tuesday night against the Fort Wayne Wizards (15-24, 53-56) - with both team looking to snap three game losing streaks. Adam Rosales hit his first Midwest League home run and helped the Miami Valley's team take the series opener by a 6-2 final in front of 8,779 at Fifth Third Field on Tuesday night.

Dayton jumped out early on Wizards starter Cesar Ramos (L, 1-1) by capitalizing on some fundamental hitting in the home half of the second inning; Jeremiah Piepkorn led off with a ground-rule double to left field followed by a single from Tonys Gutierrez. Dragons third baseman Evan Conley then put his team on the board with an RBI single to left field. Drew Anderson also picked up an RBI in the Dragons second inning, to give the home team a 2-0 lead.

The Wizards climbed within one run in their half of the third inning; Matt Lauderdale reached base for the second time in as many at-bats - picking up an infield RBI single with the bases loaded. Dayton starter Homer Bailey (ND) got out of the jam however, striking out Mike Baxter to retire the side and keep it a 2-1 Dragons lead.

John Purdom pushed another run across in the Dragons third inning, knocking an RBI single to center field - once again giving the Dragons a two-run lead at 3-1. Bailey, meanwhile, continued to stifle the Wizards hitters - finishing with four innings pitched, six strikeouts and only three hits alllowed. The Miami Valley's team added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Anderson scored on a sacrifice fly from Adam Rosales.

Like his counterpart, Ramos was lifted after four innings of eight-hit, four-run baseball. His replacement Phil Polanco (ND) was roughed up in his first inning of work. Rosales hit his first Midwest League home run over the Dragons Lair in left field; his round-tripper was a two run shot that extended the Dayton advantage to 6-1.

Alexander Farfan (ND) and Omar Segovia (W, 1-0) combined for four innings of hitless, shutout baseball. Farfan threw just 1.0 inning, retiring the side in order while Segovia pitched 3.0 innings of shutout relief - striking out five Wizards batters. As a staff, the Dragons struck out twelve Fort Wayne batters on Tuesday night.

Zac Stott (ND) pitched the ninth inning, allowing one run on three hits, but got Peter Ciofrone to ground out and seal a 6-2 Dragons victory.

The Dragons and Wizards continue their four game series on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Field with a 7:00 P.M. first pitch. Lefthander Joe Wilson gets the ball for Dayton while Fort Wayne will counter with righty Jon Ellis. The game can be heard on radio at ESPN Radio 1410-AM and on the Internet at www.daytondragons.com, with the pre-game show beginning at 6:30 pm.
