Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-Preston Mattingly collected four hits including a home run, double, and two singles as the Great Lakes Loons defeated the Dayton Dragons 11-3 in the first game of a day-night doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The loss extended the Dragons' losing streak to a season-high four straight and dropped them into a tie with West Michigan for first place in the Midwest League's Eastern Division.

After Great Lakes scored one run in the second inning, Mattingly homered to right-center with two outs in the fourth to make it 2-0. Alfredo Silverio drilled a two-out home run in the fifth to make it 4-0.

The Loons took advantage of three Dragons errors to score six runs in the seventh inning, sending 11 batters to the plate, and then added one more in the eighth to build an 11-0 lead.

Dayton got on the board on a three-run home run by Daniel Perales in the bottom of the eighth to close out the scoring.

Dragons starting pitcher Josh Ravin pitched well at times in his full-season debut but suffered the loss. He allowed six hits and four runs in four and two-thirds innings, walking three and striking out four.

The Dragons host the Loons in the second game of today's day-night doubleheader at 7:05 p.m. Curtis Partch (2-4, 4.71) will start for Dayton against Great Lakes' Victor Garate (1-0, 2.31).
