Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE - Scott Robinson hit a game-winning, two-run homer to cap a three-run, two-out, bottom of the ninth inning rally for the Wisconsin Timber Rattler in a 4-2 win over the Kane County Cougars Saturday afternoon on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Alex Liddi drove in the tying run with a two-out single just before Robinson's homer. The win gave the Rattlers their first five-game winning streak since June of 2006.

Kane County (25-14) took an early lead with single runs in the first two innings. Larry Cobb doubled with one out and scored on a two-out single by Corey Brown in the first. Todd Johnson started the second with a triple and scored on a single by Jonathan Johnston. That looked like it would be enough for Kane County starting pitcher Scott Hodsdon.

The first base runner the Rattlers (19-19) had against Hodsdon was a two-out walk drawn by Calvin Beamon in the fourth. But, Hodsdon picked him off to end the inning. Wisconsin got their first hit off Hodsdon with one out in the sixth. Denny Almonte lined a sharp single through the right side of the infield. But, Hodsdon retired the next two batters to end the inning.

Wisconsin got on the board after Hodsdon left the game. The Cougar starter allowed a leadoff double to Robinson in the eighth. An error allowed Blake Ochoa to reach base, too. Then, a passed ball put the tying runs on second and third with no outs. Hodsdon got the first out of the frame before turning the game over to Nick Walters.

The Cougar reliever got the next batter, but uncorked a wild pitch to allow Robinson to score. Walters did manage to get the final out of the eighth.

Rattler starting pitcher Nathan Adcock allowed those two first inning runs, but gave up only four more hits over his last five innings of work. Plus, the Rattler defense turned three double plays behind Adcock to keep the Cougars off the board.

Jake Wild, who worked a perfect eighth inning, also worked a perfect top of the ninth to set the stage for the Rattler comeback in the bottom of the inning.

Pinch-hitter Edilio Colina drew a lead off walk against Walters. But, Walters got the first out of the inning on a strikeout before leaving in favor of Cougar closer Justin Friend.

Friend would strike out the first batter he faced, but a passed ball on strike three let Colina take second. Liddi was at the plate and a wild pitch by Friend sent Colina to third with the tying run.

Liddi barely got a piece of a 2-2 pitch from Friend to stay alive. He blooped the next pitch into shallow rightcenter to drive home Colina with the tying run.

Robinson didn't make the season-high crowd of 4,057 waiting for the finish. He hammered a 1-0 pitch from Friend over the wall in right-center for the game-winner.

Wisconsin wraps up their homestand on Sunday afternoon with the final game of the series with the Cougars. Phillippe Aumont (2-1, 0.87) is the scheduled starter for the Timber Rattlers. Scott Mitchinson (3-0, 2.54) is set to start for Kane County. Game time is 1:05pm.
