COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps, in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers, announced today that catcher Jordan Newton is activated from the disabled list. To make room for Newton on the active roster, outfielder Mark McBratney was sent to extended spring training.

The former Western Kentucky University product was selected by the Tigers in the sixth round of the 2006 draft and is in his third season of professional baseball.

The Wichita, Kansas native made his professional debut in 2007 with the Gulf Coast League Tigers, hitting .313 in 44 games. McBratney was signed by the Tigers as a non-drafted free agent on June 18, 2007 out of Emporia State University.
