The Des Moines Buccaneers have a busy week in store over Thanksgiving week with home tilts against the Sioux City Musketeers on Wednesday, the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday, and then they travel to Lincoln to take on the Stars Saturday.
The Musketeers come into Buccaneer Arena Wednesday with an 8-9-0 record after defeating Green Bay at home 2-1 on Saturday, November 21st. The Musketeers are just a single point ahead of Des Moines as they sit all alone in fifth place in the Western Conference with 16 points. The two teams are split in their season series at 1-1 with Sioux City defeating Des Moines 4-1 back on October 23rd and Des Moines winning 3-2 earlier this month on November 13th, with both games taking place in Tyson Events Center in Sioux City. The two opponents will face each other once more this season on Saturday, January 30th. Wednesday's game will be Miller Lite Night with 2 for 1 drink specials available.
On Friday the Green Bay Gamblers take on the Buccaneers for the first time this season and it is the only time they will make the trip to Buccaneer Arena. Their goaltender Adam Huska leads the USHL in goals against average (1.92) and save percentage (0.934) and is tied for second in wins with 8. Green Bay currently sits in 2nd in the Eastern Conference with a record of 10-6-1, good for 21 points, just a single point behind the Dubuque Fighting Saints. The two teams only meet twice in the 2015-2016 regular season, with the other game scheduled for Friday, February 19th, from the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Gabe Fleming Memorial Hockey Scholarship Auction will also be taking place during Friday's game.
The Buccaneers cap off the week in Lincoln, Nebraska, the third time they've made the trek to the Ice Box this season. Des Moines is 1-2-0 against the Stars so far this season, though they are 1-1-0 on the in Lincoln, having lost 3-2 to start the regular season on Friday, September 25th and having won 6-2 on the road on Tuesday, October 27th. The Stars have won the only meeting so far at Buccaneer Arena with a 3-1 victory on Saturday, October 17th. After Saturday's game the two teams still have four dates left against each other, playing in Buccaneer Arena on Saturday, December 12th, Saturday, December 19th, and Friday, February 12th and at the Ice Box in Lincoln on Friday, March 4th.
