Madison Capitols News Release

Madison, WI - The Madison Capitols (7-9-0-0) kick off a busy Thanksgiving week consisting of three games in four nights on Wednesday against the Waterloo Black Hawks (8-6-0-2) at the Alliant Energy Center. First puck drop will take place shortly after 7:05 p.m.

The night marks the Capitols' second annual Military Appreciation Night. Military veterans will receive a free ticket to the game when they enter at the Alliant Energy Center box office. In addition, fans can purchase Family Four Packs for tonight's game, featuring four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, and four bags of chips for just $48.

The Capitols are coming off a weekend that saw their offense return to life, potting seven goals in the last two games, including the team's first two power play goals in a month's time. Madison could not survive a slugfest on Saturday against the Chicago Steel, falling behind 6-2 early in the third before clawing back to make it a one-goal game. Time would run out on Madison's comeback bid, though, as Chicago hit two empty nets to take an 8-5 win.

After turning aside 27 of 28 shots in a 2-1 victory over Cedar Rapids on Friday night at home, Ryan Edquist was rudely chased from the game in Chicago on Saturday as the Steel rifled home three goals on their first 11 shots. It was the first time Edquist was removed from a game this season.

Former Waterloo Black Hawk Phil Beaulieu scored his first goal as a Capitol in the game Saturday, while adding an assist as well. Guillaume Leclerc, Sam McCormick, and Charlie Gerard each registered tallies to tie for the team lead in goals with seven apiece.

Wednesday night marks the homecoming for former Capitol and University of Wisconsin commit Tony Stillwell, who was acquired by Waterloo in the Beaulieu trade prior to the season.

Waterloo is coming off a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Omaha Lancers on Saturday. It was just the Black Hawks' second loss in their last eight contests. Forward Liam Pecararo scored all three goals in the defeat for Waterloo, his first markers of the season.

Last season, Waterloo and Madison each won one game in the season series, with the road team coming out on top both times. The Capitols picked up their first ever road win on Nov. 7, 2014 at the Young Arena in Waterloo, with ex-Black Hawk Cooper Watson netting the game winner in the third period, his first USHL goal.

The Capitols enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday before competing twice more in 48 hours on Friday in Cedar Rapids and on Saturday at home against Green Bay. Puck drop for each game is set for 7:05 p.m.

Tickets to the third installment of the Wisconsin Cheese Cup series, presented by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, are available by calling (608) 257-CAPS (2277) or visiting www.MadCapsHockey.com. Fans will receive specialty mustaches on Saturday to help promote men's health awareness to conclude "Movember."
