Norfolk Admirals News Release
CHICAGO, IL - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have returned forward David Bolland to the Norfolk Admirals.
Last week, the 20-year-old Toronto, Ontario, native was named the Rbk Hockey/AHL Rookie of the Month for February. Bolland's 16 points (six goals, ten assists) in February were tied for the most of any player in the American Hockey League during the month.
The 6'0", 174-lb. center has 13 goals and 22 assists with 37 penalty minutes in 49 games with the AHL-leading Admirals this season. The Chicago Blackhawks' second-round draft choice (32nd overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft also made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks on October 25 versus Vancouver, going scoreless in his only NHL game thus far.
Injuries hampered Bolland during the first half of his rookie year. He suffered a shoulder injury at Blackhawks' training camp that kept him out of the lineup until the season's third week. He then suffered a concussion in late December that caused him to miss six games. In 25 games played since returning from his concussion, Bolland has eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points.
Bolland compiled an impressive record in junior hockey playing for the Ontario Hockey League's London Knights. He won the 2005 Memorial Cup and followed that by leading the OHL in goals (57) and finishing second in scoring (130 points) in 2005-06. During his junior career, Bolland tallied 166 goals and 198 assists for 364 points in 316 regular season and playoff games.
