Ak-Sar-Ben Knights Fall To Stars, 3-0

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights' six-game winning streak game to a screeching halt as Dan Ellis made 22 saves to pace Iowa to a 3-0 victory.

After a physical but scoreless first period, the Stars would open the scoring. At the 5:44 mark of the second period, Francis Waither wristed a shot to the top corner over the glove of Knights' goaltender Brent Krahn to give the Stars the advantage.

The Stars extended their lead in the third period. While on a five-on-three power play, Junior Lessard's attempted pass deflected off the leg of a Knights' defensemen and through Krahn.

Iowa sealed the victory with the Knights on a late power play. Lessard scored into the empty net from his own goal line at the 18:39 mark to make it 3-0.

The Knights are now 37-20-3-1. They are now 6-4-0-0 against the Stars this year. They finish the regular season with a record of 3-3-0-0 against the Stars at home.

Three Stars: 1. Dan Ellis (IOW) - 22 saves; 2. Niklas Grossman (IOW); 3. Brent Krahn (OMA) - 25 saves.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights continue their five-game home stand with back-to-back games Friday and Saturday versus the Grand Rapids Griffins. Both games start at 7:00 p.m.
