Worcester Sharks News Release
(Westborough, MA - March 6, 2007) The March of Dimes and Worcester Sharks announce a new partnership to help the national voluntary health agency mission to improve the health of babies. The partnership will include March of Dimes involvement in an upcoming Worcester Sharks home game and the Hockey Teams involvement in the annual March of Dimes WalkAmerica, where Sharks All-Star Mathieu Darche will serve as the Honorary Chair for Worcester.
"Since day one we have been committed to supporting our community," said Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr. "This is another way to do that and we are absolutely thrilled to be able to partner with the March of Dimes for our March 16th home game and their WalkAmerica on April 22. It is important for our fans to understand premature birth and how serious it can be."
On Friday, March 16, 2007, the Worcester Sharks will host a March of Dimes night at the DCU Center in Worcester. The evening will begin with a March of Dimes WalkAmerica Team Captain kick-off in the Shark Tank from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The Worcester Sharks' hockey game against the Hershey Bears starts at 7:00 p.m. with the dropping of the puck by March of Dimes Ambassador Child, Paul Hernandez Jr.
A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the March of Dimes. Tickets are available on the Sharks website at www.sharksahl.com or by calling the Sharks offices at 508.929.0500. The evening of the game, the March of Dimes will be hosting an information table and conducting a raffle where game attendees can enter to win an ipod.
"Partnerships with organizations like the Worcester Sharks are very important to the March of Dimes and the mission to help save babies. We are very excited about this opportunity to come together with such a community focused organization and to inform and educate the thousands of Worcester Sharks friends, fans and families about the crisis of premature birth, said Ed Doherty, March of Dimes State Director.
