Howard and Hussey Return from Wings

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Goaltender Jimmy Howard and center Matt Hussey returned to the Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday after being assigned by the Detroit Red Wings. As a result, the Griffins today assigned goaltender Logan Koopmans and right wing Mike Walsh to the ECHL's Toledo Storm.

Howard, 22, has dressed for five games over two stints with Detroit this year. He has appeared in 34 games with the Griffins, posting a 16-14-1 record with a 2.81 goals against average and a 0.905 save percentage.

Hussey, 27, logged his fifth game with the Red Wings in their 4-3 shootout win over Nashville on Tuesday. He has points in 13 of his last 15 games (6-11-17) as a Griffin and ranks third on the team in scoring with 39 points (14-25-39) in 57 contests.

Koopmans backed up Stefan Liv for Grand Rapids' last three games during Howard's absence, while Walsh made his AHL debut in the Griffins' 5-3 win over Peoria on Tuesday.
