Clinton, IA - For the second straight week, a LumberKing has been named Player of the Week by the Midwest League. Third baseman D.J. Peterson was honored by the league for his performance, a week after Ketel Marte took home the same award.

D.J. Peterson played in all seven games this past week, going 12-for-28 (.429) in those contests. Peterson collected one double and three home runs, including a grand slam on August 7th at Quad Cities. The slugger scored six runs and racked up six runs batted in over the course of the week.

The Seattle Mariners selected Peterson in the 1st round (12th overall) in this past June's draft. Peterson starred at the University of New Mexico, being twice named Mountain West Co-Player of the Year and First Team All-American. Peterson started his professional career with the Everett AquaSox before joining the LumberKings on July 24th. In his brief time as pro, he has already hit 12 home runs, including six with Clinton.

Peterson is the fourth LumberKing to be honored by the Midwest League this season. Jabari Henry was Player of the Week in early May, and Ketel Marte was given the same honor on August 5. Victor Sanchez was Pitcher of the Week after he tossed a no-hitter July 17.
