
Captains Sweep Hot Rods with Walk-Off Win

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - Jeremy Lucas' two run opposite field single gave the Captains (25-25) the 3-2 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods (29-22) on Monday Night. Nick Hamilton led off the ninth with a single, and motored to third on a double by Yhoxian Medina. Dorssys Paulino hit an infield single, which scored Hamilton. The score was 2-1. Logan Vick laid down a bunt and the throw to third base was late. The bases were loaded and nobody was out. With one out in the inning, Lucas then blooped the single to RF and the Captains had their fourth walk-off win on the season. The Captains swept the Hot Rods.
Bowling Green scored the first run of the ballgame in the top of the fourth inning. Andrew Toles doubled to right field and raced around to score on a single from Tommy Coyle. Bowling Green led the game 1-0. It became 2-0 in the sixth inning when Tyler Goeddel tripled and scored on a two-out single from Justin O'Conner.
RHP Robbie Aviles (3-3) started the game for Lake County and took the loss. Aviles pitched six innings and allowed six hits and two earned runs. Aviles walked one and struck out three. D.J. Brown (2-4) pitched three innings of relief and earned the win. Brown allowed two hits and three strikeouts.
Bowling Green had a no-hitter through seven and one third innings. LHP Kevin Brandt (0-0) twirled six no-hit innings. Brandt allowed one walk and did not allow a run. Andrew Hanse pitched two innings and allowed one hit. Marcus Jensen (6-3) got the loss after pitching in the ninth and recording just one out. Jensen allowed four hits, three earned runs, and one strikeout.
The Captains will enjoy and an off day on Tuesday and will be back in action on Wednesday. South Bend will be in Eastlake for a three game series. The Captains will start RHP Felix Sterling (3-4, 4.86) and South Bend will counter with RHP Blake Perry (7-5, 3.97). First Pitch will be at 7:00 PM from Classic Park.
Wednesday is buy two, get two food specials and will be the Captains Eating Olympics.
