
Cyclones Snap Stingrays' Winning Streak

Cincinnati, OH -The South Carolina Stingrays (24-17-1-1) fell to the Cincinnati Cyclones (18-17-5-2) 4-2 at U.S. Bank Arena Friday night. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Stingrays.
Rays defenseman Dustin Stevenson opened the scoring midway through the first period lifting a shot over the glove of Cyclones goaltender Marc Cheverie at 11:29. Forwards Pierre-Luc O'Brien and Nikita Kashirsky assisted on Stevenson's third tally of the season. The Cyclones tied the contest on the power play at 15:34 when blueliner Adam Comrie blasted a shot from the right-wing point past Stingrays netminder Jared DeMichiel. Forward Mathieu Aubin recorded the lone assist.
The Cyclones buried three goals early in the final period to take a 4-1 advantage. Defenseman Benn Olson broke the tie 1:52 into frame from forwards Barret Ehgoetz and Christiaan Minella. Seconds later, forward Dustin Sproat made it a two-goal lead from Aubin at 2:21. Ehgoetz netted his 10 of the season on the power play at 8:53 from Comrie. Stingrays defenseman Josh Godfrey cut the lead in half on the power play at 17:00 with his 13 of the year from forwards Rob Ricci and O'Brien to complete the game scoring.
DeMichiel suffered the loss stopping 36 of 40 Cyclones shots. Cheverie improved to 13-8-2-2 kicking away 22 of 24 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays ended the night 1-for-3 on the power play while the Cyclones finished 2-for-3.
