Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced rookie right wing Bretton Cameron (KAM-er-ihn) has been returned to the Thunder from loan to the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League on a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
Cameron, 21, will make his return to the Thunder lineup tonight at Stockton Arena, when the Thunder takes on the Idaho Steelheads at 7:30 p.m. (1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com).
The 5-foot-11, 181-pound forward was originally loaned to Connecticut on Jan. 22 and skated in two AHL games, collecting one assist, two penalty minutes and a +2 rating. He signed by the Thunder as a free agent on Oct. 25, 2010 after skating with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010 Prospects Camp and with the Whale in AHL training camp.
Cameron leads the Thunder with 13 goals and is tied for second with 23 points (13g-10a) in 29 games. He returns with a five-game ECHL goal-scoring streak and has collected 16 points (9g-7a) in the last nine games.
The Didsbury, Alberta native earned Sher-wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week honors on Jan. 18. Last year, Cameron led the Medicine Hat Tigers and was ninth in the Western Hockey League with 40 goals, additionally scoring a junior career-high 67 points (40g-27a) in 68 games and collecting 119 penalty minutes.
A two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons, was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine for the third straight year, and drew over 200,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season in 2009-10. Season Tickets, mini-plans and individual tickets for 2010-11 are on sale now.
