March 28, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this morning that last night's crowd of 9615, set a club record for single game attendance. The previous mark was 7584, set on November 29, 2002-when the club hosted Dayton at U.S. Bank Arena.
With the home portion of the regular season concluded, the Cyclones drew 90,830 for the 36 home games. That is an increase of 36.8 percent from a year ago. The club turned in a 29-4-3 record, .847 winning percentage at U.S. Bank Arena. The squad also had six crowds in excess of 5000-the first time since 2002-03 that the team had as many. In the 20 games played after January 1, the Cyclones averaged 3078 per game.
"We have been very pleased with the fan turnout in the second half of the season," Kristin Ropp, Vice President/General Manager of U.S. Bank Arena said. "Last night's crowd is not surprising, as we have an exciting team and have made this a great family entertainment event. We are hopeful that this will continue into our playoff run."
The Cyclones will play in the best-of-seven North Division semifinals, hosting games one and two of the series on Friday, April 11 at 7:30pm (Game âA' of the playoff package) and Saturday, April 12 at 7:30pm (Game âB' of the playoff package). The rest of the series will be announced after the winner of the play-in series is determined. Johnstown will play either Dayton or Trenton in that opening round series.
Tickets for all Kelly Cup playoff games start at $10 and can be purchased at the gate, or by contacting TicketMaster at 513-562-4949.
The Cincinnati Cyclones close out the regular season with five straight road games-the first being tonight in Johnstown, face off is at 7pm and the game can be heard on 96 Rock, as well as the club's website: www.cycloneshockey.com.
