Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors today have signed F Ryan Salvis (SAL-vihs), as announced by Head Coach Marty Raymond. Having just finished his college season, Salvis will make his professional debut tonight.
Salvis, 23, wrapped up his third season of play at St. Francis Xavier University in the Atlantic University Sport conference. In three seasons, he totaled 37 points (18g-29a) in 74 games.
The 6-foot, 195-pound native of Toronto, Ontario also played one season of junior hockey with the Lincoln Stars in the United States Hockey League and four seasons in the junior ranks with Moncton in the Quebec Major Junior League.
"Salvis is a high energy player," said Raymond. "He's a center who is smart, good on draws and has great anticipation."
The Condors also announced that D Joe Dustin was released today. Dustin accumulated 27 points (7g-20a) in 58 games with Bakersfield this season.
Upcoming Games: The Condors homestand continues with a pair of games this weekend at The Nest. Tonight they play host to the Victoria Salmon Kings. The first 2,000 kids, 12 and under, will get a Condors Stick & Puck set, courtesy of KGET-TV 17 and US Army.
On Saturday the Condors host the Utah Grizzlies for the Country Music Jersey Off Our Backs Raffle & Auction, sponsored by Bright House Networks, KUZZ 107.9 and Bud Light. Everyone in attendance has the chance to win one of five of the authentic player jerseys raffled off, and the auction will benefit Valley Achievement Center.
The Condors regular season home finale is Monday, March 31 against Utah, the last March Monday Madness Game of the season. That is Blood Drive Night, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9. March is Blood Drive Month for the Condors, who have rewarded those who donate blood at area Houchin Blood Banks with a voucher good for $1 admission to this game. Also, it's the final night of the five-piece magnet collector series, featuring Colonel Claw'd.
Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m. all three nights.
