Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

KALAMAZOO, Michigan - Cincinnati Cyclones left wing Scott Reynolds scored the game tying goal- his second of the day--with 23 seconds remaining and Jason Jozsa's overtime goal capped a 3-2 win over the Kalamazoo Wings on Sunday afternoon. The Cyclones have now won five straight road games and have won 18 games this season. Cincinnati is in first place in the North Division of the American Conference- one point ahead of Toledo, but the Walleye are hosting Johnstown this evening with a chance to move back into the top spot.

The victory was even more impressive as the Cyclones used just 14 skaters due to injuries and call-ups, two fewer than the legal limit.

Each team netted a goal in the opening period. Kalamazoo started the scoring 2:32 in when Andrew Fournier collected his 14th goal of the season off a pass from Matt Jones. Cincinnati evened the score when Scott Reynolds re-directed a Brian O'Hanley shot for his twelfth lamplighter of the season. Hans Benson picked up the other assist on the score. The shots favored Cincinnati, 10-8, in the opening stanza.

Kalamazoo netted the only score of the middle frame to take a 2-1 edge into the third period. Darryl Bootland potted his fifth score of the season from Rick Cleaver and Louis Liotti at 5:40. Bootland took his feed and slapped the score home from the left wing side. The shots again favored Cincinnati, 10-8, in the stanza.

The Cyclones tied the game up at 19:37 of the third period when Reynolds picked up his second of the night and 13th of the year- and seventh versus Kalamazoo. With the goaltender on the bench and a six-on-five attack, Reynolds snapped his shot in on a goal mouth scramble. Barret Ehgoetz and Brett Motherwell had the assists. Cincinnati outshot Kalamazoo, 9-7, in the period. It was the first time since December 8 of last season that Cincinnati had scored a goal with the netminder pulled (T.J. McElroy netted that tally).

In overtime, Ehgoetz worked a two-on-one into the Wings end and tried to slide the puck cross ice. It was tipped by a Kalamazoo defender into the slot and Jozsa got to the loose puck and fired it over the right shoulder of netminder Jeremy Duchesne to ignite the sudden death victory. The Cyclones had both shots in the overtime and won the shots battle at 31-23.

Robert Mayer picked up his eighth win of the year, stopping 21 shots. Jeremy Duchesne absorbs the loss- turning aside 28 shots. Cincinnati was zero for three with the man-advantage while Kalamazoo was zero for two on the power play.

Cincinnati is now 18-11-1, while Kalamazoo is 16-8-4. The Cyclones return to Kalamazoo on Thursday for a 7:30pm New Year's Eve clash. The game can be heard on the internet at www.cycloneshockey.com. It is the second game of a three game road trip for the club before returning to U.S. Bank Arena on Tuesday, January 6 against Trenton.

Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3.
