Florida Everblades News Release
DULUTH, GA - Florida managed a point in a close-checking affair against the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Everblades suffered their second loss in overtime this season as Matt Siddall registered the game winner 1:48 into the OT session. Gwinnett beat Florida 3-2 for the second straight time in the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Goaltender David Brown stopped 47 of 49 shots to secure the victory for the Gladiators.
Gwinnett struck first 10:56 into the period as Tim Miller picked up a deflected puck off a skate and drilled the puck in the back of the net. Adam Brocklehurst and Adam Berti were credited with assists on Miller's third goal of the year. Florida would respond about five minutes later as Ryan Lang took a pass in the high slot and skated in alone on goaltender David Brown to make it a 1-1 game. It was Lang's ninth goal of the year and Phil Paquet set up the play keeping the puck in the offensive zone and feeding Lang the puck in front of the net.
The Everblades took their first lead of the game on their first power-play opportunity in period two. Shea Guthrie whacked a rebound out of mid air off a shot from Brandon Buck to make the score 2-1. Guthrie scored his ninth goal this season, while Brandon Buck recorded his ninth assist and defenseman Matt Duffy his third helper and fifth point this season. The Gladiators would respond six minutes later as defenseman Aaron Brocklehurst broke into the Everblades zone and blasted a shot low glove side to tie the score 2-2. Jason Lawrence and goaltender David Brown recorded assists on the goal.
With no scoring in the third period, Matt Siddall ended the affair just under two minutes into the four-on-four overtime session. Siddall picked up a rebound off an Aaron Brocklehurst shot and slid it by Florida netminder Mike Morrison to end the contest.
Florida and Gwinnett tangle once again on Tuesday night at the Arena at the Gwinnett Center at 7:05 p.m. Tune into Fox Sports Radio for all the action beginning with the Shoeless Joe's Sports Café pre-game show 25-minutes before the game.
