Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Dayton Bombers got a goal and an assist from both Nino Musitelli and Mike McLean in a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday night. It was the preseason opener for both teams.
The Cyclones opened the scoring 8:39 into the opening period when rookie Nicolas Robillard netted a power play score from Sean Perkins and Kyle Rank. Dayton leveled the scores at 1-1 with an even strength goal from Justin McCutcheon, who tipped a Matt Rogers shot in the low slot. Zach Pearson added the second assist. Dayton won the shots on goal battle in the opening frame, 7-6.
In the second period, Dayton tallied the lone score, as Nino Musitelli notched the goal from Mike McLean and Jamie Dowhayko at 13:39. That goal came just 26 seconds after Robillard's second goal of the night was disallowed after the net was dislodged. Dayton had four power play chances in the frame-including a five-on-three situation near the midway point of the frame but was unable to capitalize. Cincinnati outshot the Bombers, 12-6, in the second stanza.
Dayton got the game winning goal just 32 seconds into the final frame, as McLean netted a power play goal from Christian Gaudet and Musitelli. Cincinnati would bring the game to within one, as Travis Hanson collected the score from Mitch Woods and Bryan Porter, at the nine minute mark.
Dayton goaltender Paul Drew took the win, stopping 26 of the 28 shots he faced. Cyclones goaltender Kyle Gajewski turned aside 24 of the 27 shots he faced. Cincinnati was one for six on the power play, while Dayton ended at one for 13.
