Bombers Open Preseason With 3-2 Victory Over Cincinnati

Evandale, OH - The Dayton Bombers defeated the reigning ECHL champion Cincinnati Cyclones 3-2 at the Cyclones' practice facility, Sports Plus, in the first of two preseason games this weekend.

The Cyclones jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a power play goal by Mikael Bedard in the first, but the Bombers quickly answered back when Justin McCutcheon scored just over two minutes later to even the score at one goal a piece. Matt Rogers and Zac Pearson tallied assists.

The Bombers scored the lone goal of the second period as rookie Nino Musitelli netted his first goal at the 13 minute mark from Mike McLean and Jamie Dowhayko and lead 2-1 into the break.

Dyton's lead grew to 3-1 less than a minute into the third period as Mike McLean netted a power play goal with helpers from Christian Gaudet and Musitelli. The Cyclones closed the gap later in the third on a Travis Hanson goal, but the Bombers would hold onto the 3-2 win.

Bombers goaltender Paul Drew made 26 of 28 saves, earning the win. The Bombers fired 27 shots on the night.

Action heads north tomorrow as the Bombers abnd Cyclones clash again at 2:00 p.m. at the Kettering Rec Center for the final preseason game before the regular season gets underway.
