Syracuse Crunch News Release

Syracuse, NY - Kristers Gudlevskis and the Syracuse Crunch shut out the Rochester Americans 1-0 tonight during the Stanley Steemer Tired Teddy Toss game at the War Memorial Arena.

Crunch goaltender Gudlevskis stopped all 27 shots in victory, while Americans goaltender Nathan Lieuwen stopped 26 of 27 shots in defeat. Syracuse's penalty kill unit stopped Rochester's single power-play opportunity. The Crunch were unable to convert on seven man-advantage opportunities.

The win advances the Crunch to 12-10-1-2 on the season and 3-0-0-0 in the series with the Americans.

The Crunch appeared to take the lead halfway through the first period when Artem Sergeev's shot ricocheted off the pipes, sending thousands of teddy bears flying onto the ice. However, after review, the goal was called off.

Brett Connolly found the back of the net with the game's only goal in the first period. Connolly redirected Dmitry Korobov's shot past Lieuwen at the 14:18 mark. Luke Witkowski was credited with the secondary assist. The Crunch held the 1-0 lead over the Americans through the end of the game.

The Crunch travel to Hershey to face the Bears for the first time this season on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
