Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, VA- Blake Parlett registered a goal and an assist to help lead the Springfield Falcons to a 5-2 victory over the Norfolk Admirals Saturday evening at the Norfolk Scope.
The game started with some fireworks as just two seconds into the contest Zack Stortini and Cody Bass slugged it out in a spirited tussle. Both players received matching fighting majors. The early excitement gave way to a quiet opening frame as both teams combined for just eight shots on goal, resulting in a scoreless first period.
Springfield leaped onto the scoreboard two and half minutes into the second on a Blake Parlett goal. Parlett collected a deflected puck 20 feet from Norfolk's goaltender Igor Bobkov and hurried a shot to the near side that made it 1-0 at the 2:35 mark.
The Falcons tightened their grip five minutes later when Michael Chaput wristed a shot inside the far left post. The second Springfield goal of the night lit the lamp at 7:41 of the second period.
Cody Goloubef piled it on Norfolk when he streaked across the blue line and let a Broc Little pass fly. Goloubef's shot whistled past Bobkov's glove side shoulder for the third Falcons' marker of the period. Springfield increased their lead to 3-0 at 14:52 and brought that advantage to the final period.
Norfolk tried to climb back with a tap-in goal from Emerson Etem on the power play at 2:44, but Andrew Joudrey answered shortly after to make it 4-1 at the 5:19 mark in the third.
Joseph Cramarossa attempted to keep the comeback bid alive as he swooped in on goal from the left wing and slid the puck through Mike Clemente's legs. The Admirals trailed 4-2 with 5:38 left in the game.
The story of the night for the Admirals was their struggles on the power play. Norfolk was 1-fo-10 on the man advantage, and had several chances in the first period to take the lead.
Springfield added an empty net goal from Alex Aleardi to seal the 5-2 victory.
The Falcons' Mike Clemente wins his second start of the season, making 21 saves on 23 Norfolk shots. Igor Bobkov takes the setback in an 18-save performance on 22 Springfield shots.
Springfield picked up three out of a possible four points this weekend and improve to 18-4-1-2. Norfolk, on the other hand, falls to 13-9-0-4 after earning two points this weekend in Friday's shootout win.
