Syracuse, NY (April 1, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that Jim Sarosy has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and has signed a long-term agreement with the organization.

Sarosy has been affiliated with the Crunch since 1995 when he joined the club as a public relations intern while an undergraduate student at Cortland State University and became the full-time Public Relations Manager in 1996. He served as Vice President of Public Relations from 1998 - 2001 before being named Senior Vice President in 2002.

During his tenure with the club, Sarosy has twice been selected by the American Hockey League as the recipient of the Ken McKenzie Award, given annually to the outstanding executive in public relations and marketing. He was one of the driving forces behind last season's Mirabito Outdoor Classic, generally regarded as the most successful single-day event in the 75-year history of the AHL.

Sarosy will continue to work side-by-side with Crunch Chief Financial Officer/General Manager Vance Lederman and report directly to team owner Howard Dolgon.

"Jim has proven throughout the years to be an invaluable member of our team and this promotion is our way of telling him just how highly ownership regards this fine young man," said Dolgon. "He is truly one in a million. Any player that has ever worn a Crunch jersey gets embraced by Sarosy upon their arrival to Syracuse and many of them remain lifelong friends with Jim. It is a tribute to his character, his unselfish nature and his goal of making the Syracuse Crunch one of the finest franchises in all of sports. We are delighted to have him as a member of our organization for years and years to come."

"I'm excited to have this opportunity to continue with this great organization," said Sarosy. "I'm thankful for the wonderful opportunities provided me by both Howard and Vance. This organization has accomplished many remarkable things in its first 17 years and I'm looking forward to many more successful seasons of working with them, our fans and corporate partners."

A native of Franklin Square, NY, Sarosy resides in Clay with his wife, Chrissie and children Gehrig, Holden and Danica.
