Falcons Beat Tigers 3-2 - Atkinson Scores Game-Winner - York Earns First AHL Win

Rookie Cam Atkinson made his pro debut one to remember as the youngster assisted on the game-tying goal and scored the game-winning marker late in regulation leading the Springfield Falcons to a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Trailing 2-0 entering the third period, the Falcons used three third period goals to earn the victory. Nikita Filatov started the comeback for Springfield when he tallied a power play goal just 10-seconds into the third period cutting the Falcons' deficit to 2-1. The Falcons would find the equalizer at 4:48 of the final period when Ben Guite tallied on the man advantage evening the score at 2-2. Atkinson took the original shot with Guite standing at the top of the crease and knocking home the rebound.

With the game deadlocked at 2-2 midway throught the third period, Falcons rookie goaltender Allen York robbed Bridgeport's Justin DiBenedetto point blank keeping the game deadlocked at two. York was making his first AHL start and he stopped 14 of 16 shots.

After a scoreless first period, the Sound Tigers built a 1-0 lead just 36-seconds into the second period when Jeremy Colliton scored his 16th goal of the year giving Bridgeport the one-goal advantage. At 10:09 of the middle frame, DiBenedetto tallied on the power play giving the Sound Tigers a 2-0 lead through 40 minutes.

The Falcons outshot Bridgeport 29-16 in the game.
