Admirals win a 5-2 victory

MILWAUKEE --- Jarod Palmer and Jon DiSalvatore both scored first period power play goals for the Houston Aeros but a four-goal second period pushed the Milwaukee Admirals to a 5-2 victory on Friday night at Bradley Center.

The Aeros loss allowed first place Milwaukee to take a four point standings lead over second place Houston in the West Division playoff race. Houston has two games remaining while the Admirals have five games left.

After Houston took a 2-1 lead into the second period, Milwaukee scored three times on the power play and used four goals in just under 11 minutes in the middle stanza to take a commanding 5-2 advantage.

Mark Van Guilder's 10th goal of the season at 6:14 of the second period proved to be the game-winner. Chris Mueller scored twice and added an assist for Milwaukee. Gabriel Bourque had a goal and an assist while Aaron Johnson and Roman Josi chipped in with two assists each.

Matt Hackett made 14 saves on 19 shots in 46 minutes of action for the Aeros. Josh Tordjman stopped all seven shots he faced in a relief role. Jeremy Smith made 22 saves for the win.

The Aeros return to action at Chicago on Saturday at 7 p.m. The team returns home for the regular season finale on Sunday, April 10 at 4:05 p.m. Calder Cup Playoff dates, opponent and ticket info will be announced soon.
