Oilers Sign Arcobello

Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the Oklahoma City Barons, signed forward Mark Arcobello to a two-year entry level contract, Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini announced today.

Arcobello, a 5-9, 165-pounder from Milford, Conn. started the season with the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL where he recorded 20 points (7-13-20) in 33 games. With the Thunder, he was named an ECHL All Star and was the Most Valuable Player at the 2011 ECHL All Star Game. As a member of the Barons, he has recorded 16 points (9-7-16) in 21 games.

He has done his best work in the month of March. In 13 games during the month, he has 13 points (7-6-13). That includes a four-point night against Grand Rapids on March 11. He has recorded a goal and an assist in three of his last four games.

The first-year pro played four seasons at Yale where he recorded 116 points (49-67-116) in 133 games.

Oklahoma City is in the thick of the playoff race in the West Division. Entering play this weekend, the Barons are a point out of a playoff birth with five games remaining.

The Barons close out their home slate of games this weekend at the Cox Convention Center. Friday, the Barons take on the Rockford IceHogs, the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. Saturday, they close out their regular season with a tilt against the Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars. Both games faceoff at 7:05 p.m.
