LOOKING AHEAD:
Separated by just one point in the North Division standings, second-place Lake Erie (88 points) and third-place Hamilton (87) collide tonight at the Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland... The Bulldogs bring a three-game winning streak to town - their longest since a six-game run from Jan. 12-26 - while the Monsters saw their eight-game winning streak end on Wednesday in a 3-2 loss to Rockford... Goaltender Drew MacIntyre is 7-5-2 (2.05, .934) since joining Hamilton from the Chicago Wolves and has surrendered exactly one goal in each of his last four outings, stopping 126 of 130 shots over that span (.969)... Nigel Dawes, who came to Hamilton in the same transaction as MacIntyre, has 11-7-18 and a plus-9 rating in 13 games in a Bulldogs uniform and leads the AHL with 38 goals overall (38-24-62)... Dawes (4-3-7), Aaron Palushaj (2-4-6), and Dustin Boyd (1-3-4) are each riding three-game scoring streaks for the Bulldogs... Lake Erie has outscored Hamilton 12-2 in capturing all three of the Bulldogs' prior visits to Cleveland this season, and the Monsters are 16-4-0-0 in their last 20 games overall... Monsters leading scorer Ben Walter (5-3-8) shows a team-high five goals and eight points vs. Hamilton, while Justin Mercier (1-4-5) and Julian Talbot (1-4-5) each have five points in the season series... Lake Erie is an impressive 24-9-0-2 within the division this year.
A battle for first place in the West Division pits Houston against Milwaukee tonight at the Bradley Center... Both teams have clinched playoff berths, and the Admirals hold the inside track to the division crown with a two-point lead on Houston and three games in hand... Kelsey Wilson (2-4-6) and Andreas Thuresson (3-3-6) each boast five-game scoring streaks for the Admirals, who are 4-0-1-0 in their last five... Milwaukee rookie goaltender Jeremy Smith is on a personal three-game winning streak, matching his season high... The Admirals own a 3-0-1-1 record vs. Houston this year, and Chris Mueller has produced a team-best four points (1-3-4) in the season series... Robbie Earl (4-0-4) and Chad Rau (3-3-4) have each netted a goal in three straight games for the Aeros, and First Team AHL All-Star Maxim Noreau has collected an assist in his last four tilts (0-6-6)... Noreau ranks second among AHL defensemen in both assists (44) and points (54) while playing 76 of Houston's 77 games on the year... Aeros forward Patrick O'Sullivan has five goals and six points in just three appearances vs. Milwaukee this year... Houston is 27-5-0-3 this season when leading after the first period.
After enjoying Friday night off, Portland visits Manchester on Saturday in a battle of the Atlantic Division's top two teams... The Pirates hold a three-point edge on the Monarchs atop the division with two games in hand, and Saturday begins a stretch that will see Portland close the season with seven games in nine days... Mark Parrish has registered a point in 10 of his last 11 outings (6-13-19) for the Pirates, and Jacob Lagace shows four points (2-2-4) over his last three contests... Portland could be without AHL defensemen scoring leader Marc-Andre Gragnani (12-48-60), currently on NHL recall to Buffalo... Manchester, which visits Worcester on Friday, is just 1-3-1-0 in its last five games... Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff finished March at 5-3-1 (1.55, .949) with two shutouts in nine appearances... Bud Holloway has amassed 12 points (6-6-12) in 10 games vs. Portland this year and is the Monarchs' leading overall in both goals (26) and points (56) in 74 contests... Holloway has recorded four points (1-3-4) in his last two games, and Dwight King brings a three-game scoring run (3-2-5) into the weekend... The Monarchs own a league-best .853 points percentage when they score the game's first goal (27-3-1-3).
