Checkers Hit Facebook Target, Offer Free Ticket Monday

April 1, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced that their "Facebook Fandemonium 2" promotion has hit its target of 25,000 Facebook 'likes' and each of the team's followers on the social media platform will get a free ticket to Monday's game against Norfolk.

The program, which donated $2 for every 'like' to Zach Bennett, has raised more than $16,000 for the 11-year-old boy from Albany, N.Y. with Neurofibromatosis (NF1), whose family is planning to move to Charlotte for better medical care.

In addition to the free ticket, the Checkers have announced that they will keep the donation period open until Monday at noon so that any new follower will mean another $2 donation to Zach.

The Checkers launched the program on Feb. 24 with an initial fan base of 17,170 and eclipsed the 25,000 mark Thursday afternoon.

Fans can head to www.facebook.com/charlottecheckers between now and Monday to claim their free ticket and donate $2 by becoming a fan, if they have not done so yet.
