Syracuse Crunch News Release

Syracuse, NY (February 19, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have defeated their long-time I-90 rivals, the Rochester Americans, in the first-ever Facebook Faceoff contest.

Since January 19, the Crunch and Rochester have been "facing off" to see which team could gain more "LIKES" on their respective facebook pages. The Crunch won in convincing fashion, gaining 1,054 "LIKES" compared to Rochester's 810.

"Once again Syracuse proves when it comes to fan support, we are superior to our neighbors to the west. It's always a good feeling to beat Teddy and the boys in Rochester on and off the ice and I expect that pattern to continue for years to come," said Crunch President and CEO, Howard Dolgon.

In lieu of the Crunch's win, the Americans will make a donation to the Crunch Foundation, the charitable arm of the Syracuse Crunch Hockey Club. In addition, the Crunch are holding a separate Crunch Foundation facebook contest, in which fans can nominate a Central New York non-profit to win the donation and 25 tickets to a remaining Crunch home game.

To submit a nomination, first 'LIKE' the Crunch's Official Facebook page by visiting www.facebook.com/syracusecrunch, then clicking the 'DISCUSSIONS' tab and reviewing the topic entitled 'Crunch Foundation Facebook Contest Rules and Regulations.' The winning non-profit organization will be announced on Monday, February 21 on the Crunch's Official Facebook page.

The Crunch play the second game of a five-game home stand on Saturday, February 19 vs. Rochester at 7:30 p.m. at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena. Season and single-game tickets for the 2010-11 season are on sale and can be purchased by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473- 4444, or by stopping by the Crunch office at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena, located at 800 South State Street in downtown Syracuse.
