Stars Clip Wolves, 3-2

ROSEMONT, Ill.---The Chicago Wolves saw a 2-2 tie snapped with a late third period goal that gave the Texas Stars a 3-2 win before a crowd of 10,721 at the Allstate Arena Saturday night.
Center Jason Krog and defenseman Paul Postma tallied goals for Chicago (29-24-2-4), which saw a three-game winning streak snapped with the loss.
Texas forward Greg Rallo sent a shot zipping through traffic in front of the net that left wing Francis Wathier redirected past a screened Peter Mannino to put Texas on top for good, 14:46 into the third period.
"We dominated the whole game but their goaltender put on a great performance," said Wolves Head Coach Don Lever. "We worked hard but we just didn't get it by him."
Texas (31-19-3-3) wasted no time jumping out to a 1-0 lead. Wathier scored 36 seconds into the game when he waked in and flung a shot past Mannino from above the left faceoff circle.
The Wolves evened it up, 1-1, at 4:24 of the first period. Krog attempted to flip a backhanded pass across the crease and the puck deflected off of a Texas player and into the net.
A power-play opportunity late in the second period helped Chicago inch ahead, 2-1. Right wing Darren Haydar held the puck along the boards and shipped it up to Postma at the point, and the blueliner fired a long blast that skipped past Texas goaltender Richard Bachman with 1:06 remaining in the frame.
Bachman (21-12-3) turned aside 42 shots for the Stars.
Texas responded early in the third period to knot the score, 2-2, with a shorthanded goal. Colton Sceviour stole the puck at the blue line, raced into the Wolves zone and fired a backhanded shot before knocking his own rebound back past Mannino, 1:32 into the frame.
Mannino (14-14-3) posted 24 saves for the Wolves.
The Wolves host the Rockford IceHogs at the Allstate Arena on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
