
B-Sens Win Sixth Straight In Dramatic Fashion

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -The Albany Devils cruised into the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena Saturday riding a high after defeating the Worcester Sharks last night with five seconds remaining in regulation. The Binghamton Senators however gave them a taste of their own medicine tonight, cruising to their sixth straight win with a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory.
Rookie Mike Hoffman net the game winner with less than a second remaining in extra time, while net minder Barry Brust stopped 42 of 45 shots faced to help lead the B-Sens.
The Devils struck first in the game at 10:56 of the opening period. Steve Zalewski beat Brust with his fourth goal in five games for Albany. The goal was the first of three points for Zalewski, who registered an additional goal and added an assist.
The B-Sens answered with three second period goals. Patrick Wiercioch put the B-Sens on the board at 3:42 and Roman Wick tallied at power play goal at 9:17. Kaspars Daugavins added to the B-Sens lead, scoring a shorthanded goal, Binghamton's third of the season, at 12:54.
Zalewski's second goal of the game pulled Albany within one with just 11 seconds remaining in the second.
The lone goal of the third came at 9:37 from the stick of Alexander Vasyunov, who lasered a shot through the Binghamton crease and off the post to tie the game at three and ultimately force the overtime period.
With the victory, the B-Sens improve to 7-0-1-0.
The B-Sens return to action Wednesday, Feb. 23 as they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Tickets are $17.75 for side seating, $16.75 for end seating.
