GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, Class-A farm team of the Chicago Cubs, open a four- game homestand on Tuesday against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a Milwaukee Brewers farm team. The upcoming homestand includes Harry Potter Night, a Bark in the Park night, Day Camp Day and post-game fireworks shows on Thursday and Friday. Homestand Notes

Give it Away: The first 250 dogs attending Bark in the Park on July 30 will receive a bandana, courtesy of Pet Supplies Plus. Presence Mercy Medical Center, which is sponsoring Thursday night's game, will provide the first 1,500 fans with an Albert Almora Cougars travel mug and post-game fireworks show. Friday night's game, presented by Hyundai, includes an umbrella giveaway for the first 1,500 fans and a post-game fireworks show as well.

Thirsty Thursday: Thursday's August 1 game is a Thirsty Thursday, presented by Miller Lite, with $1 select beers, small sodas and hot dogs available from when the gates open at 5:30 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m.

Be Entertained: The homestand includes two nights with post-game fireworks shows (Thursday and Friday). Quick Change, a ballroom dance-meets-magic duo, will perform on Thursday night. Wednesday's Day Camp Day includes a pre-game autograph session on the field with Cougars players. Pet Supplies Plus is sponsoring this year's 2013 Bark in the Park dates, the second of which is Tuesday's 6:30 p.m. game. Dogs are admitted onto the lawn area for free activities include a pre-game dog parade on the field, lucky seat prizes courtesy of Pet Supplies Plus, and other in-game contests.

Sara Evans Concert: The Cougars will welcome country music star Sara Evans for a concert on Sunday evening, August 4, to be held at the Music Garden at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva. Tickets, which start at $30 for lawn seating and include $40 for reserved seating along with $60 VIP seating, are currently on sale at the Cougars' box office, by ordering online at kccougars.com or by calling 630-232-8811. Gates open at 5 p.m. that evening with the concert scheduled to start at approximately 6 p.m. Evans will be on tour to promote her latest album titled "Stronger". There is no Cougars game on the day of the concert.

The Cougars (40-60, 10-24) conclude a six-game road trip this evening in Peoria and will attempt to win their third straight series. Entering play this evening, the Cougars are 7.5 games behind Peoria for the final Western Division playoff spot. The season concludes on Monday, September 2. Infielder Jeimer Candelario is 3rd in the Midwest League with 29 doubles. Infielder Rock Shoulders is 2nd in the league with 16 home runs. Infielder Dan Vogelbach has played in all 100 games and leads the team with 65 RBI. Pitcher Michael Hamann has 3 saves and has not allowed a run in 6 appearances. Pitcher Armando Rivero picked up his first career save on Sunday.

Detroit infielder Miguel Cabrera ('01), who missed several games last week due to a hip injury, is batting .360 with 32 home runs and 99 RBI, and leads Major League Baseball in batting average and RBI. Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Adrian Gonzalez ('01) is batting .299 with 15 home runs and 65 RBI. Dodgers teammate Ronald Belisario ('02) has made 52 appearances out of the bullpen. Pittsburgh pitcher A.J. Burnett ('98) has a 2.96 ERA in 18 starts, and teammate Vin Mazzaro ('06) has a 3.11 ERA in 35 relief appearances. Washington rookie pitcher Ian Krol ('10) has a 2.00 ERA in 19 appearances. San Francisco pitcher Santiago Casilla ('03-'04) has a 1.54 ERA.

Outfielder Brian Fletcher ('11), who was named Cougars Player of the Year in 2011, had a three-homer game for Double-A Northwest Arkansas (Kansas City) last week. Infielder Anthony Aliotti ('10) was recently promoted from Double-A Midland (Oakland) to Triple-A Sacramento. Aliotti batted .350 with 12 home runs and 51 RBI for the Rock Hounds and was named to the Texas League All-Star Game. Catcher Max Stassi ('10) had a streak of 5 consecutive games with a home run for Double-A Corpus Christi (Houston). Pitcher Kyle Zimmer ('12) made his debut with Double-A Northwest Arkansas (Kansas City) last week, striking out 7 batters over six shutout innings. He is 2-0 since making his Double-A debut. Outfielder Brett Eibner ('11) is batting .246 with 16 home runs and 33 RBI at Double-A Northwest Arkansas (Kansas City). Javier Herrera ('05) is batting .301 with 13 home runs and 53 RBI at Double-A Richmond (San Francisco). Pitcher Travis Banwart ('07-'08) is 6-5 with a 4.95 ERA at Triple-A Sacramento (Oakland). Pitcher Greg Billo ('11), who was named Cougars Pitcher of the Year in 2011, has made 2 starts at Class-A Lexington after missing much of last season due to injury. Pitcher Yordano Ventura ('11) is 3-3 with a 4.23 ERA at Triple-A Omaha (Kansas City).
