July 29, 2013 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-Joe Hudson delivered a double and singing and drove in the eventual winning run as the Dayton Dragons completed a three-game sweep of the Fort Wayne TinCaps with a 3-2 victory on Monday evening. The Dragons improved to 21-16 in the second half and climbed to within three games of first place, remaining two games out of the wildcard slot.

The game gave the Dragons their first home series sweep since they took three games from Great Lakes at Fifth Third Field August 17-19, 2011.

Fort Wayne scored one run in the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie, but the Dragons responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Hudson lined a double to the gap in left-center field to start the inning and Sammy Diaz walked. After a pitch to Beau Amaral, Fort Wayne catcher Rodney Daal fired a pick-off throw to second. Hudson broke for third as the catcher released the ball and, with a head-first slide, beat the throw for a stolen base. Amaral then delivered a base hit to left to drive in Hudson and tie the game. One batter later, Jesse Winker's RBI single to right gave the Dragons a 2-1 lead.

The Dragons added another run in the seventh when Daniel Pigott doubled to left to start the inning and scored on Hudson's single to center to make it 3-1. Fort Wayne pulled to within one in the eighth on a solo home run by Tyler Stubblefield to make it 3-2.

Dayton reliever Michael Lorenzen pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save of the series. The game ended on a double play ground ball to shortstop off the bat of Luis Tejada.

The Dragons are 16-8 over their last 24 games. They are 13-5 over the last 18 home games.

The Dragons finished with 11 hits. Amaral had three hits for his third straight multi-hit game. Winker, Hudson, and Pigott each had two hits. Seth Mejias-Brean walked twice but went 0 for 3 as his 12-game hitting streak came to an end.

Dragons starting pitcher Ismael Guillon was outstanding but came away with no decision. He worked five and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on three hits with three walks and eight strikeouts. Wandy Peralta (2-6) was credited with the win. He worked two and one-third innings in relief of Guillon, allowing two hits and one run with two strikeouts.

The Dragons remain home and open a new series at Fifth Third Field against the first place Bowling Green Hot Rods on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Nick Travieso (5-3, 5.24) will start for Dayton against Bowling Green's Blake Snell (3-7, 4.14). All Dragons games can be heard on WONE Radio (980 AM) and via the internet at daytondragons.com and wone.com.

Notes: Lorenzen has not allowed a run in his nine relief appearances with the Dragons covering 8.1 innings. He has two saves and a win.
