Rickles Named Midwest League Player of the Week

BELOIT, WI - Beloit Snappers catcher Nick Rickles has been named Midwest League Player of the Week for the week of July 22-28. Rickles batted .500 during that period, going 11-22 with 3 doubles, 2 HR, and 9 RBI's. He also scored 3 runs.

Rickles had a fantastic start to the week, as he went three-for-five with five RBIs, including a ninth inning grand slam that gave the Snappers a 9-7 win on Monday in Bowling Green. He had an even more impressive game on July 27th as he went 5-5 with two RBI's against Quad Cities in an 8-6 victory at Pohlman field.

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Rickles is a 6'3, 230-pound right-handed catcher who is in his third season with the Oakland organization. He was a 14th round pick in the 2011 draft out of Stetson University in Florida. Rickles began the year with the Midland Rockhound before joining the Snappers in April. He is the second Snappers player to be named MWL Player of the Week this year, joining Christopher Bostick, who got the nod for the week of June 10-16.
